This first one, (above) Is mainly just here because it is so pretty! I love the lines of the outside of the marble and my fingers, that let you easily focus toward the inside of the marble. I also am impressed with the blue and green coloring, and I love the way that the sun looks a little like a fuzzy puff-ball. It specifies the wavy line of the blue in the middle, and it all just pulls together to make it look very magical. You might even interpret it as representing how you view the world! Tell me what you think!
This one is incredibly meaningful to me. I didn't take it with much intention of photography per se, I just really wanted to focus on an emblem that I love so much. This is my Medallion. Basically, in my church, women ages 12-17 have the opportunity to complete a set of requirements for the Young Women's program. When you finish, you get this necklace. It has 5 symbols on it, which I'll list in order from "smallest" to "biggest" (kind of). 1. The beehive, which is not only the title of the 12-13 year olds, but it also is symbolic of working together like a hive of bees. 2. the miamaid flower, which is the title of the 14-15 year olds, and it is also symbolic of some things, so go look them up. 3. The laurel wreath, title of the 16-17 year olds, which can be symbolic of nobility, among other things. 4. the ruby is a direct reference to a scripture (Proverbs 31:10) which states that a virtuous woman's price is even above rubies. 5. The Salt Lake Temple. This represents our goal to one day go to the temple to make covenants with our father in heaven and our families, among many other wonderful symbols. This one tiny necklace means so much to me, I thought it was worth a place in my blog.
Now after that long description from the last picture, this image is MUCH simpler, as it is a chalk drawing of my two cute parakeets. I drew this with rock, actually, it wasn't a store-bought chalk piece, but instead a very chalk-like rock from the mountains near me. I drew this for my birds actually, since they watched me draw it, but I thought I'd feature it as my art, and a decent drawing anyways!
This one didn't turn out the way I expected. The colors of the lights were different. But anyways, I love the lines in this that lead you up to the center, which of course is how it was made anyways, but I also like all the different lights that make it look as if it's glowing. The perspective is cool, since you're looking up and sideways at it, although I would've preferred to take it from the center. Sadly there was a table there, and I wasn't interested in getting face paint all over my clothes, so this was what I got, and I think it still looks pretty cool!
This one was more of a concept than an artwork, I saw my parents sitting together, and my thoughts randomly wandered to what it would look like together. You can easily tell that it is a female boot and male shoe, and you could potentially find some meaning in it, like that men and women should work as one, but really, I just took it 'cause it sounded like a good idea. (also note that the feet are arranged to make it look like it's one body, which might sound creepy when I say it that way, but I'm just pointing out that it's my dad's left foot, and my mom's right foot, which provides that illusion?)
This was mostly for the sake of capturing a random motivational note on the sidewalk, but I also thought I'd include that odd angle of seeing my feet, (don't you just love my shoelaces?) because I've seen that type of perspective before and it looks cool, so I tried it. It makes me a little dizzy to look at! Almost as it you're falling in three directions at once... I wish I could describe that dizzy feeling.
I don't really know why I took or uploaded this, maybe I liked the silhouette look of the window? Maybe the glowing skyline? Maybe the street photography outside? Maybe even the little blue glow in the reflection, I really don't know, but I thought I would include it, and see how you might critique it.
This one is odd, but I think it used a lot of cool art. So the original reason for taking this was because believe it or not, that orange ball is a mini M&M. That was it. I like mini M&M's. But now, looking at it, I see so much more. The diagonal lines on the table not only add texture, and contrast against the ball, but they also make you feel a little like you're falling off the table and the ball is somehow either frozen in time, or defying gravity. I like the use of shading over the ball, and the light reflection on the top makes the image less bland, giving you more to notice and feel. There are reflections in the ball, the rule of thirds is used in this, and there is some interesting focus and fade points. It's just packed with techniques, that I hadn't planned for, but that make it feel just... awesome.
This isn't a very well done picture, it doesn't particularly feel nice, but I figured I'd include it to show you what I meant when I took it. So for a start, I was bored and locked outside my house and this was what I did when I was bored. But I though it would be fun to take this picture for a little bit of deeper interpretation. So for instance, is there a ghost in that chair, sitting there like an old lady on the porch, just watching the world? Is it a sad memorial of someone who used to sit there? Is it just a lonely chair, unaccompanied by anyone? Plus I thought it might be fun to add something in, like a ghost, to really pound in the point, but for now, it's up for discussion! (tell me what you think below!)
This last one isn't very in depth. It's just a fun little picture I took while out with my friend, of her being a ninja. Karate Kid moment! I tilted the camera for dramatic effect, but other than that, it was just for funsies!
I really like the Medallion pic I have mine and I did not know all the meanings behind the Medallion I like the rubies one best I think.
