Water and Ice

I absolutely love water. It's such a magical thing, from fantasy to photography, it's hard to beat. These images vary in theme, but look amazing, and so I think are worth noting individually, instead of combined as a whole.

Oh, this is one of my absolute favorite pictures I've ever taken! I tried so hard to get one just like it, but my phone refused to focus on the water again, and all I got was the landscape. Still, I got one, and I LOVE it. It looks so magical, almost surreal. there's a change in distance from left to right, and you can make out the background, but the water... oh, forget explaining, it's awesome!

These two are examples of what happens when I start playing with focus points. In the first one, (my favorite of the two) you can see the details of the cracks on the fountain, and the rest is just background noise. On the second one, the focus is further back, on the bird, with the edge of the fountain leading into it. same picture, different effect!

Though these 4 are pretty much the same in concept, but they have they're own little differences. The last one looks more sparkly, but the other three show an awesome mirror effect of the world around. Not too much to say, just cool!
I was totally surprised that even my mom couldn't guess what this was. If she had that type of issue with it, I'm going to assume you guys will too. So this is a picture of the ice at a skating rink near me. (I'm a figure skater, it's what I love.) I had wanted to capture the perfect crystalline clarity of the shards of ice, but it didn't quite work. Instead, I got some cool reflections of the lights and windows, and also you can see two clear cuts in the ice. So although it wasn't what I wanted, it does the trick for me!
This just looks magical. First off, the technique! Rule of thirds, yet again, puts special emphasis on the icicle, without making it feel overwhelming! I also love the bokeh effect here. You can see the branches in the background, but all that is in focus is the ice. Third, (and I just noticed this) there are some reflections on the ice! Lighting and other things from my room and things around it are showing up, which looks so cool! But last, and not least: The detail. I never realized that icicles froze with little "plants" inside them. Here you can see the little fern-edged bubbles inside it, and it's so specific and enchanting, it's hard to look away from for me!
