July 4th 2017

It's just a few days after the fourth of July, and you know what that means! This is only one of many pictures I took of these beautiful lights. If you'd like to see a few more, check out the page on the right titled "Explosions of Color."

New layout!

Hello guys! I've begun to discover the types of things that I take pictures of the most, so I'm rearanging my blog to make it less random. Some of my earlier posts refer to pages like "Nature" and "More Nature" which I will now be taking out, and replacing them with ones like "Water and Ice" or "Skies and landscapes." Many of the captions for previously used images will not be changed, but I'll be adding new ones, and moving old ones, so feel free to look around!

Oh, and though this is my photography blog, you'll also notice a "drawings" page in here for some things that I created myself!

Strange Parakeets

Go check out the page titled "irregular" for some fun, random photos! A little like this one, but more surreal, and creative. This one's just funny... that's about it.

Boondoggles and Pens

Hey guys! Been a while since I've last posted, and will probably be another "while" until I post again, but go ahead and check out my new page/post anyways! This particular photo is not on the "Everyday Items" page, but I think it helps to clarify what IS on that page.  It's not a brilliant piece of art, but in my opinion, neither is that big red dot that everyone seems so obsessed with. Or Picasso. If either of those count as art, I think I'm doing pretty well! Anyways, go check out that page, "Everyday Items" for a few more pictures I took just for fun!

Week7 Nature's Candy

For week 7 we learned some new techniques, and started editing! We played with the way that you can highlight an object or part of an object by making it the only thing in color, so for this assignment I took this picture. I know you may be thinking "wait, so is there a page to go with this?" and my answer is, no. Not currently. For this week I only took this one picture, (and other variations, just to make sure) and so I won't make a page for this week, but there are still plenty of pages for other week's assignments, and of course some fun pictures I chose to take just because!
So as far as technique goes, this image uses the rule of thirds, and color splash. Other than that there isn't too much else. However, we made this with the intention of that one meaning you so hoped I wouldn't bring up. Fruit is healthier than candy. There, I said it! It's nature's candy, and it is (in my opinion) better than any Twix out there, even the right ones... Other meanings might be that it's OK to stand out, since this image before completely drowned out the strawberry, but in the end, it was special. (that was poorly worded) But anyways, it was mainly for extra focus, so if you want to tell me what you think, do so below, and go explore the blog!

The Sunset

In between weeks, I've had some fun with simply taking some pictures wherever I go, some of them were so perfect and beautiful, I couldn't resist putting them here! So, all that said and done, I'm excited to lead you to my newest page titled "More nature" featuring images like this one, that I took, just for fun.

This particular image speaks to me so much. I can't even fully describe it. The rule of thirds was used here, showing the lower third of landscape, but really focusing on the sky. However, not even the sky claims the focus, since there really isn't much there. The lack of color and change becomes boring, and so it all leads you directly to the source of light, that tiny bit of color over the hill. That focus point is so perfect. Plus, I love the silhouette effect of the mountains. That contrast of the near black and pure blue shapes the image so well. So overall, although it's a very simple picture, it holds a lot of meaning. It may be that little light just over the hill, or it may just mean beauty and love and light. In my opinion, it's a very successful picture.

Week5 Angel

So after a relaxing week with no assignments, we're back into the artistic challenges! This week, this is the image I submitted, but I adored so many of the others in my photoshoot, I just HAD to include them, so go check those out in the page titled "Light painting!"

So this is my mom, as an angel! This was a cool pic because I found it was fun to represent my mom as the perfect angel she often is. I was the only one doing any of the "art" in this one, including taking the picture, helping her pose, (she did have quite a bit of say in that) and of course, coloring in her wings and halo! It turned out pretty well overall, though it did definitely take quite a few tries. I achieved a good effect, and you can only hardly tell that I was there at all! Hope you enjoyed, tell me if you think YOUR mom is an angel, or not.
